Origins of Jans
We have a good idea about the origin of Jans. We know that he was the son
of Jean Sauvage & Anne Eon , and that he came from the province of Bretagne, France.
On his marriage certificate with Marie-Louise Benoit done on April 8 1782 in the
parish of Les Cèdres, Quebec, we can read that he's from the parish of Plouër, Bretagne.
In his two marriage contracts done before J.Gabrion, notary, it is written
in the first one dated April 5 1782, that Jans was from the parish of
Ploüouard, Dol diocese, Bretagne. In the second one dated September 23 1782,
it is said that he's from Ploüard, Dol diocese, Bretagne.
In the book ¨ Nos origines en France, des débuts à 1825. Vol. 13 :Bretagne¨
we can read that he’s the son of Jean Sauvage & Anne (Ayous, Ayrus or Eyon )
from the parish of Plouëc today named Plouëc-Du -Trieux , Tréguier diocese, Bretagne.
We can conclude that he’s from the province of Bretagne,
for his native parish we have the name Plouër, Ploüouard, Ploüard and Plouëc.
Only Plouër-Sur-Rance and Plouëc-Du-Trieux are parish in Bretagne.
Some research in the Plouër registry indicate that there
were Sauvage & Eon family living there between 1700-1790.
I still have no proof that Jans and his parents ever lived there.
